Mr. Mao Liqun gave a lecture on Intellectual Property at Zhejiang University

On June 25th, as invited by the School of Public Affairs of Zhejiang University, Mr. Mao delivered a lecture named “HOW CLOSELY IS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS RELATED TO EVERYBODY” to the teachers and students from different faculties of the university.

Starting with an introduction on the history of development of the innovation in the United States, in combination of his own experiences, Mr. Mao analyzed the significance of “innovation-driven” as the national policy to the economic growth of today’s China. Mr. Mao moved on and discussed the permeating influence of Intellectual Property Rights protection on the country, the corporations and each individual, which has now been well recognized as the single most important way for realizing innovation-based economic growth. Mr. Mao further illustrated the intimate correlation between IPR and private life of individuals with examples related to Intellectual Property often to be seen in our modern society and daily life. Mr. Mao introduced to the students the basic knowledge of IPR, and encouraged the students to study the practice of IPR of foreign countries and to train themselves to better understand and respect IPR.

After the lecture, many students and teachers from the audience participated in a face-to-face discussion with Mr. Mao on a variety of issues on the laws and practice of Chinese Intellectual Property protection.
